It gets cold where I live so when I saw this heated cat bed I bought a small one to see if any of my cats would like it. They all loved the bed. I purchased a second one, but this time, I got the large one since my male cats are in the 13 to 14-pound range.
As it turns out, two beds weren’t enough. One of the male cats, Finn, was constantly cramming himself in with whichever cat was already in the bed. Soon the original occupant would leave to find another place to sleep. So I went back online and got two more beds.

Four heated cat beds for four cats. They are definitely spoiled. However, I will say they do love their heated cat beds and sleep in them all the time, so it is worth it.
Heated Cat Bed Color & Size Options
Color choices:
- Mocha Leopard is a darker brown outside, and the cushion is leopard print
- Tan Leopard is a lighter outer color with the same leopard print inside
The beds come in two sizes:
- Small = 16 inches x 16 inches x 14 inches tall, and weighs 1.65 pounds
- Large = 20 inches x 20 inches x 14 inches tall, and weighs 2 pounds
The sleeping surface of the small bed is approximately 15-inch diameter, and the large bed has a 19-inch diameter. The cord for both sized beds is 5.5 feet long. The manufacturer says not to use extension cords.
Which Size is Best for My Cat
The large bed is big enough for my 14-pound boy cats. I even see them sleeping in the small bed at times. It’s a bit of a snug fit, but they do still fit in the smaller cat bed. My female cats are more in the 7-8 pound range, and they can fit in the larger bed together without a problem.

K&H Thermo-Kitty Heated Cat Bed Overview
The hood attaches with a zipper and can be in the up or down position. You can also take the hood off and just use the round bed. It has a removable cover for easy cleaning. You can put it in the washing machine on the gentle cycle with cold water, then either line dry it or put it in the dryer on the no heat cycle setting.
The bed has a dual thermostat. When it isn’t in use, it warms the surface 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit above the air temperature and emits heat to attract your cat to the bed. When your cat isn’t in the bed, the heat dissipates into the air.
The bed isn’t pressure sensitive but rather is designed to warm your cat to its normal body temperature, so it doesn’t matter how much your cat weighs. Once the cat gets in the self heating cat bed, it warms up to the cat’s body temperature which is approximately 102 degrees Fahrenheit to keep your kitty nice and snug.
When I first got it, I was hesitant to leave it plugged in all the time. I touched the cushion to see how warm it was, and it did seem slightly warm to me as the manufacturer claimed. Once my cat got in and fell asleep, I’d checked it again, and I could feel it had warmed up more under her body.
I have had no issues with these self heating cat beds, and I leave them plugged in all the time once the weather starts getting chilly. I live in New England, so we experience the temperature changes of all the seasons. I plug the beds in sometime in the Fall and leave them plugged in through the Winter and Spring. Once the weather starts getting warmer, I unplug the beds and the cats still sleep in them during the Summer.
One other thing to note, I only use the heated beds indoors. It even states on the K&H site these aren’t meant for outside or garage use. If you are looking for an outdoor heated cat bed, you need to be sure what you purchase is designed specifically to be used outside.
Additional Features:
- No on/off switch, always stays on when plugged in
- Only uses 4 watts
- MET Safety Listing (for more details visit www.metlabs.com)
- One year warranty

I have friends that also have these same heated cat beds, and they rave about them too. Their cats love the beds as much as mine do. Now I know some people may think it’s a bit extreme to buy heated beds for your cats, but they are like children at my house, and this is one of the best cat products I’ve ever bought them.
